All-Natural Bacon Is Full Of Umami Deliciousness.
There’s both science and culture behind why we love the smell and taste of all-natural bacon. Bacon is said to deliver six different types of umami flavor. Umami is a Japanese term for a flavor that is both savory and meaty. Those six flavors melt down as the fat renders during cooking, creating a crispy, sweet, smoky and savory stick of bacon. For many of us, bacon also plays a cultural role. Bacon and eggs are classic breakfast staples highlighted in Norman Rockwell paintings, and bacon is the start of many traditional Southern recipes for rice, greens, soups and stews.
Creative Ways To Add Bacon To Your Menu.
We love bacon and eggs, but bacon is not something we want or should eat every morning. Here are some of our favorite ways to integrate it into your menu without it becoming the meal:
- Soups & Stews: With colder weather just around the corner, adding soups or stews to your weeknight menu is a must! Instead of using butter or olive oil as the starting point, render some pieces of chopped bacon in a heavy stockpot. Remove the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate and cook your veggies in the bacon’s fat for a deeper and more complex flavor. Add the bacon at the end for a bit of crunch.
- Desserts: Chocolate and bacon are a delectable match. The next time you make a batch of brownies, sprinkle finely chopped bacon on top right after baking. You’ll get that salty-sweet combination that’s unforgettable.
- Pasta: Use the same technique you used for soups and stews with pasta dishes – especially those using a cream or cheese-based sauce. If you’re not adding vegetables to the pasta, you can render the bacon separately and chop it up, adding it to the dish at the end.
- Salads: As long as you know you don’t have any vegetarians visiting, add some chopped bacon to your salad for crunch and a salty bite. There isn’t a salad in this world that bacon can’t improve.
Order Or Pick Up All-Natural Meats From Our Family Farm.
We invite you to order our all-natural bacon online or visit our storefront to pick some up. We proudly cure our bacon two ways, 1.) the old-fashioned way with salt, pepper and sugar, and 2.) the all-natural way with celery powder for that more contemporary taste. For those of you who enjoy old-fashioned bacon, we recommend you soak it overnight to reduce the salt content. While you’re at our storefront, pick up some eggs, ground beef and pork chops at the same time to throw in the deep freeze. You won’t be sorry. Ready for all-natural bacon from Sunrise Farms?
