This year, we installed solar panels on our farm to power our mill and offices. This large-scale project is just one of many ways in which we’re translating our mission into action for a more sustainable farm powered by cleaner energy.
Minimizing Our Carbon Footprint To Protect Our Environment.
Solar is a clean and renewable source for powering our operations. It reduces our reliance on coal and wood to fuel our mill and covers 100% of our energy needs. Over the course of a year, solar power on our farm will:
- Reduce Emissions: We will reduce our CO2 emissions by 190 tons.
- Save Trees: 4,426 trees won’t be required to power our mill.
- Cut Oil Consumption: Converting to solar energy saves 400 barrels of oil.
How It Works.
We have a 188.1-kilowatt system that produces 244,000-kilowatt-hours in the first year. Our panels face south and absorb sunlight with photovoltaic cells that generate electricity. That electricity feeds into our mill and offices. Excess power goes back to the electric grid.
